Community Development Coordinator and earlier settlement roles
Support settlement and community participation, progressing from direct support into coordination and community development.
Mandate and scope
Work with refugees, humanitarian entrants, young people and culturally diverse families, alongside local services and community partners.
My contribution
- Helped individuals and families understand service systems, access support and make informed decisions.
- Developed community initiatives around participation, youth leadership, employment, wellbeing and social cohesion.
- Built relationships with councils, schools, employers, service providers and civic organisations, including contributions to Welcome to Logan, Walk Together and White Ribbon activities.
Contribution and collective results
The work connected practical individual support with broader community initiatives and local partnerships. Progress was shared with the people, families, colleagues and organisations involved.
Leadership perspective
Lived experience is a reason to listen carefully, not a reason to assume another person’s story. Good practice connects people’s strengths with opportunities and keeps strategy close to everyday experience.
